Authors: Bouchery, Yann; Corbett, Charles J.; Fransoo, Jan C.; Tan, Tarkan
Description: Who is this book for? In this Preface we give a quick introduction to the objectives
and intended audience of the book, the guiding principles we adopted in assembling
it, and its structure. In the Introduction (Chap. 1, by Bouchery et al. 2017), we offer
some more broader perspectives on the current and future state of sustainability in
supply chains.

Authors: Gibson, Ian; Rosen, Rosen; Stucker, Brent
Description: We wrote this book because we have all been working in the field of AM for
many years. Although none of us like to be called “old,” we do seem to have
60 years of experience, collectively, and have each established reputations as
educators and researchers in this field. We have each seen the technologies
described in this book take shape and develop into serious commercial tools, with
tens of thousands of users and many millions of parts being made by AM machines
each year. AM is now being incorporated into curricula in many schools,
polytechnics, and universities around the world. More and more students are
becoming aware of these technologies and yet, as we saw it, there was no single
text adequate for such curricula. We believe that the first edition of this book
provided such a text, and based upon the updated information in this 2nd edition,
we hope we’ve improved upon that start.

Description: This volume contains the papers presented at CISIM 2012, the 11th International
Conference on Computer Information Systems and Industrial Management held
during September 26–28, 2012, in Venice.
CISIM provides a forum for researchers from all over the world to discuss effective software support for widespread use of information systems technologies.
The main focus of this edition was on data management in (possibly) untrusted
networks, addressing the issue of securing computer networks so as to ensure
reliable data management and delivery. The conference is supported by IFIP
